SAN ANTONIO, TX – The Texas Racing Commission (TXRC) approved the dates for the 2024 live racing season at Retama Park at its October meeting. The 23-day Quarter Horse meet will get underway on Thursday, June 27, 2024, with live racing set for Thursday, Friday and Saturdays as well as Wednesday July 3, 2024, with a post time of 6:15 pm (Central). The Quarter Horse racing season will wrap up on Saturday, August 17. View the complete schedule.

2024 Dates Include:

June 27, 28 and 29

July 3, 4, 5, 11, 12, 13, 18, 19, 25, 26 and 27

August 1, 2, 3, 8, 9, 14, 15, 16, and 17

In addition, Retama Park Training Center will operate from December 4, 2023 – April 19, 2024. The barn will start set up on December 1 and will open for all breeds on December 4, with training hours set for 7 – 11 am, six days a week. There are many new rules being implemented in Texas and all participants (owners, trainers, jockeys and track employees) are encouraged to review the changes before December 1.

The Texas Quarter Horse Sales (TQHA) Futurity will highlight the Quarter Horse stakes schedule and will be contested on Saturday, July 27.

Penn Entertainment and Retama Park’s management has been working alongside the Texas Racing Commission, Texas Horsemen’s Partnership and Texas Quarter Horse Association to make sure the Training Center and Racing Dates are beneficial to all participants.
